Professor Ling San Deputy President and Provost, President's Chair in Mathematical Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Prof Ling San is a mathematician and was Dean of the College of Science at NTU, before becoming Provost in January 2018. A passionate educator and a distinguished scholar, Prof Ling has been recognised for his contributions to science and education and is a Past President of the South East Asian Mathematical Society. Prof Ling’s research focuses on applications of algebra, number theory, coding theory and cryptography. | |
Professor Denise Chalmers Emeritus Professor, University of Western Australia National Senior Teaching Fellow Denise Chalmers is Professor Emeritus in the field of higher education teaching and learning at the University of Western Australia. She has initiated and led several institutional, national and international initiatives and projects including developing and embedding teaching quality criteria and indicators and promoting the use of teaching and learning performance indicators to guide decision making and resource allocation. She was awarded an OLT National Senior Teaching Fellowship on recognising and rewarding university teaching in 2015 and an Australian Award for University Teaching Citation in 2014. She is the current President of HERDSA. | |
Associate Professor Shen Ji Department of Teaching and Learning, School of Education & Human Development, University of Miami Dr. Shen’s scholarly work focuses on interdisciplinary and integrated STEM learning and assessment, technology-enhanced learning environments, and modeling-based teaching and learning. Dr. Shen’s work has been funded by U.S. National Science Foundation. Dr. Shen received his Ph.D. in Physics from Washington University in St. Louis and was previously a post-doctoral researcher at The University of California, Berkeley. | |
Professor Alison Taylor Department of Educational Studies, Faculty of Education, University of British Columbia Alison Taylor is a Professor in the Department of Educational Studies at the University of British Columbia in Canada. Before moving to UBC, she was the Academic Director of Community-Service Learning at the University of Alberta. Dr. Taylor has conducted research on students’ experiences of community-engaged learning at two Canadian universities, and recently led a Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund project on developing respectful and ethical partnerships with community. | |
Professor Gan Chee Lip Associate Provost (Undergraduate Education); Executive Director, Office of Research & Technology for Defence & Security; Professor, School of Materials Science & Engineering, College of Engineering Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Dr Gan is a Professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), Nanyang Technological University. He is currently the Associate Provost (Undergraduate Education) and Executive Director of Office of Research & Technology for Defence & Security. He is also a Fellow of Renaissance Engineering Programme (REP), as well as a Fellow of NTU Teaching Excellence Academy. He had previously held the position of Head of Materials Science Division in School of MSE, Chairman of NTU Teaching Council, Director of REP, Director of Temasek Laboratories@NTU and Deputy Associate Provost (Undergraduate Education). Dr Gan was awarded the National Day Award Bronze Medal (Administration) in 2013, the Nanyang Education Award (University, Gold) in 2015 and the Defence Technology Prize (Individual R&D) in 2018. | |
Dr Sze Chun Chau Director, Student Experiential Learning, Senior Lecturer School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Dr Sze Chun Chau is the Director of Student Experiential Learning at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore. She has been with NTU’s School of Biological Science since 2003 and currently also serves as the Assistant Chair (Undergraduate Education). In her capacity as a faculty, she has been involved in teaching courses for the Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences programme such as Introductory Biology, Microbiology and Immunology. She has at the same time, developed and taught broadening courses such as Science or Fiction? -Biology in Popular Media and the residential education-based Exploring the Science of Good Eating Experience for the general NTU student population. Her endeavour has earned her the Nanyang Education Award at the School (2011) and College (2017) levels. She has taken up the role of Director of Student Experiential Learning since 2016, and oversees the development of co-curricular-initiated Experiential Learning programmes in NTU, including the establishment of credit-bearing broadening courses known as the Deeper Experiential Engagement Projects (DEEP) series. | |
Associate Professor Tan Seng Chee Associate Dean (Higher Degrees), Office of Graduate Studies and Professional Learning, National Institute of Education Dr Seng Chee TAN is the Associate Dean (Higher Degrees), Office of Graduate Studies and Professional Learning, National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU). He completed his PhD (Instructional Systems) from the Pennsylvania State University in 2000 under the NTU Overseas Graduate Scholarship. He has been working on integrating technologies into education in different positions, as an assistant director in the Ministry of Education, as the Head of the Learning Sciences & Technologies academic group, and as the Acting co-director of the Centre for Research & Development in Learning at NTU. His research interests include Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning, knowledge building, and the use of technologies in education. His recent publications include “Knowledge Creation in Education”, “Pushing the frontier: A cohesive system-wide approach to integrating ICT into education”, and “Transforming teaching and learning in higher education.” | |
Umarani Jayapal Senior Librarian, NTU Library Umarani Jayapal is a Senior Librarian from Digital Scholarship & Education Team, NTU Library. She has extensive experience in creating content and designing gamification elements for online Information & Media Literacy module, Mendeley and EndNote workshops. She also one of the lead trainers conducting the compulsory online Scholarly Communication & Impact seminar for new postgraduate students. | |
Vincent Wong Vincent Wong is a Librarian from Advisory & Consultation Team, NTU Library. He is a liaison librarian for the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, and has worked extensively with faculty and students on information literacy workshops. He is also the project manager for the newly launched NTU CourseReserves platform. | |
